PT Saka Energi Indonesia (PGN Saka), part of Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, through its entity Saka Indonesia Pangkah Limited, achieved the highest rating of Platinum Alignment in the 2026 La Tofi ESG Rating with a score of 90.46. PGN Saka was also included in the Best 100 Operation Units / Sites / Suppliers Indonesia 2026 list. This achievement represents external recognition of PGN Saka’s commitment to conducting safe, reliable, compliant, and sustainability-oriented upstream oil and gas operations.
The recognition was presented as part of the Indonesia Green Awards 2026 & Best 100 La Tofi ESG Rating 2026, organized by the La Tofi School of Social Responsibility on January 21, 2026, at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta. The award was received by a representative of PGN Saka’s HSSE team. This achievement underscores that the company’s implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles goes beyond administrative compliance and is translated into measurable actions in the field.
The assessment was conducted through document analysis and desk review using the La Tofi ESG Rating – True Significant Risk–Action Impact methodology. The methodology evaluates the alignment between significant ESG risks and the mitigation measures implemented by the company, while also encouraging continuous improvement in sustainability performance and supporting ESG reporting aligned with international standards.
The ESG assessment is based on four main pillars:
- LRMI (Local Risk Mapping Index), which measures the accuracy of mapping location-specific environmental, social, and governance risks.
- RSAI (Risk–Strategy Alignment Index), which assesses the extent to which the company’s strategies are aligned with the level of risk it faces.
- AMS (Action Mitigation Score), which measures the scale, effectiveness, and sustainability of mitigation actions.
- FVS (Field Verification Score), which validates evidence of program implementation in the field.
The assessment results showed strong performance across all pillars, with an LRMI score of 100, RSAI of 90, AMS of 88, and FVS of 85.8, resulting in a final score of 90.46 and a Platinum Alignment rating. The LRMI score of 100 reflects the company’s strong capability in comprehensively mapping local risks, particularly in coastal operational areas. Meanwhile, the AMS and FVS scores demonstrate the strength of measurable, sustainable, and verifiable mitigation actions.
Based on the La Tofi ESG Rating mapping, PGN Saka is positioned in the Leader Quadrant: ESG Risk High – Action High. This position reflects the company’s ability to respond to high ESG risk exposure in the energy sector through strong and consistent mitigation measures. These efforts include coastal conservation through mangrove programs, management of fishermen-related conflicts, clean water provision, community economic empowerment, and governance strengthening supported by regular evaluations and active collaboration with local stakeholders.
PGN Saka’s ESG performance also recorded a Risk–Action Gap of 0.10. This relatively small gap indicates a strong balance between the level of significant risks and the quality of mitigation measures implemented.
Despite achieving the Platinum Alignment rating, the La Tofi ESG Rating also provided several recommendations for further improvement. These include strengthening preventive and target-based approaches to fishermen conflict management, as well as increasing the role of stakeholders as collaborative partners in the planning and implementation of coastal conservation, clean water management, and local economic development programs. These measures are expected to strengthen program ownership and improve the sustainability of their impacts.
This recognition places PGN Saka alongside national companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to ESG implementation. It also serves as motivation for all PGN Saka Perwira to continue strengthening tangible actions, maintaining consistent improvement, and embedding sustainability into the company’s approach to risk management, operational resilience, stakeholder trust, and responsible upstream oil and gas operations in delivering energy for the nation.
