Commission XII of DPR RI Appreciates SAKA Performance in Implementing Environmental Management

Gresik, East Java – PT Saka Energi Indonesia (PGN Saka), an upstream oil and gas company and part of Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, hosted a working visit by the Environmental Working Committee of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The visit took place at the Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) of Saka Indonesia Pangkah Limited (SIPL) in Gresik, East Java.

The working visit aimed to directly review the implementation of environmental management integrated with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), operational reliability, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Commission XII also reviewed the alignment of PGN Saka’s upstream oil and gas operations with sustainable development principles, environmental protection, and community development in areas surrounding its operations.

The visit was attended by Putri Zulkifli Hasan, Head of the Commission XII Environmental Working Committee, together with members of the committee. PGN Saka’s Board of Directors also accompanied the visit, including President Director Intan Fauzi, Director of Operations Achmad Agus Miftakhurrohman, and Director of Finance and Business Support M. Atras Mafazi.

Other attendees included Sayid Muhadhar, Director of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control for Coastal and Marine Areas at the Ministry of Environment; Nurcholis, representing the East Java Environmental Agency; Sri Subaidah, Head of the Gresik Environmental Agency; Anggono Mahendrawan, Head of the SKK Migas Jabanusa Representative Office; and other relevant stakeholders.

During the visit, the Commission XII Environmental Working Committee conducted a field inspection of the implementation of operational standards and environmental risk mitigation measures. The visit also served as a forum for dialogue among legislative representatives, government institutions, and industry players regarding environmental management in the upstream oil and gas sector.

“PGN Saka demonstrates that improvements in upstream oil and gas performance can go hand in hand with compliance with environmental regulations. Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives appreciates the company’s commitment to environmental management, emissions reduction, and the implementation of sustainability principles,” said Putri Zulkifli Hasan.

The appreciation reflected PGN Saka’s efforts to conduct upstream oil and gas operations safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulations, while maintaining a balance between production targets, environmental protection, and social responsibility amid the challenges facing the energy industry.

In addition to recording operational performance that exceeded targets set under the State Budget (APBN), PGN Saka consistently implements an internationally recognized environmental management system, as demonstrated by its ISO 14001:2015 certification. The certification confirms the implementation of a systematic, documented, and sustainable environmental management system.

“Through our mangrove planting and conservation program, PGN Saka received the Pilot Project Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) award from SKK Migas. This achievement reflects the company’s commitment to integrating environmental management into its business strategy,” added Intan Fauzi.

The LCI program includes the phased and sustainable planting of 120,000 mangrove trees with the involvement of local communities, supported by a long-term restoration roadmap at the Banyuurip Mangrove Center in Gresik.

In line with the government’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) policy, PGN Saka also utilizes renewable energy through the installation of solar panels at several operational facilities, including Well Head Platform (WHP)-C, WHP-D, and West Pangkah. The initiative forms part of the company’s decarbonization strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Through environmental management integrated with operational performance, PGN Saka continues to strengthen its role as a responsible, competitive, and sustainable national upstream oil and gas company, while contributing to national energy security and delivering positive energy for Indonesia.
