SAKA Fostered Partner Tambakrejo Farmers Group Wins 1st Place in Semarang City Urban Farming

Tambakrejo Farmers Group, a community partner of Saka Energi Muriah Limited, won first place in the Farmers Group category at the 2024 Semarang Urban Farming Champion (UFC). Tambakrejo Farmers Group is one of SEML’s community development partners, supported through collaboration with the Institute for Research and Community Service of Universitas Negeri Semarang (LPPM UNNES). This achievement builds on the group’s previous success, after placing second in the same competition last year.

Ragil Budi Prasetyo, Chairman of Tambakrejo Farmers Group, received the award directly from the Mayor of Semarang during the 2024 Urban Farming Champion award ceremony. The event was held in conjunction with the commemoration of Semarang City’s anniversary on May 2, 2024.

The 2024 Urban Farming Champion is an annual competition organized by the Semarang City Agriculture Office. The competition features five categories: elementary schools, junior high schools, urban village PKK groups, subdistrict PKK groups, and Farmers Groups/Women Farmers Groups.

“Through Urban Farming, we hope this program can become an alternative food source for Tambakrejo Urban Village, in line with the government’s efforts to provide alternative food sources,” said Erry Affandi, Manager of the Stakeholder Relations Department.

The judging process consisted of three stages: administrative selection, presentations and interviews, followed by field visits conducted by the panel of judges. The Urban Farming Champion program aims to support the development of an independent, healthy, and inclusive food system in Semarang.

SAKA hopes to continue making positive contributions to communities and the environment together with its community development partners through various sustainable empowerment programs.
