SAKA Wins Best Professional Oral Presentation and Showcases Innovation at IPA Convex 2025

PT Saka Energi Indonesia (Saka Energi), an affiliate of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, received the Best Professional Oral Presentation award in the Facilities Operation Improvement category at The 49th Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition (IPA Convex 2025). Carrying the theme “Delivering Growth with Energy Resilience in Lower Carbon Environment,” the event was held on May 20–22, 2025, at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

The opening ceremony of IPA Convex 2025 was officiated by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Head of SKK Migas Djoko Siswanto, President of IPA Convex 2025 Carol J. Gall, and Senior Energy Advisor Purnomo Yusgiantoro. The event was also attended by Pertamina President Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri, as well as SAKA management, including President Director Medy Kurniawan, Director of Operations Achmad Agus Miftakhurrohman, Director of Finance and Business Support Jimmy Lambey, and Commissioner M. Sulhan Fauzi.

In his remarks, Prabowo emphasized the importance of energy independence as part of Indonesia’s broader national development agenda, supported by continuous efforts to achieve national energy self-sufficiency.

“We must not depend on other nations for energy. We must be self-reliant, and the oil and gas industry is an important part of our broader strategy to achieve energy independence,” Prabowo stated.

Bahlil Lahadalia also highlighted that Indonesia still has significant oil and gas potential that has yet to be optimally explored.

“Of the 128 basins we have, 68 have not yet been explored. With the potential available to us, the key is to work harder and be more innovative,” Minister Bahlil said.

He also emphasized the importance of utilizing technologies such as fracking and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), as well as improving the investment climate to support the growth of the upstream oil and gas sector.

As part of its support for IPA Convex 2025, SAKA participated as a silver sponsor and also received the Best Professional Oral Presentation award. The award was presented to Raditia Wiyadi from the Information Technology and Data Management Department.

The presentation highlighted the Processing Integrated Transformation Analytics (PITA) technology innovation, which was developed to improve process efficiency by leveraging open-source technologies integrated with enterprise solutions at SAKA. Developed together with Irfan Prastomo, the innovation was presented under the title “Building Enterprise Data and Machine Learning Platform with Processing Integrated Transformation Analytics Technology in Saka Energi Indonesia.”

SAKA also contributed to the Student & Professional Showcase program. Farid Dasa Marianto from the Exploration Department presented a scientific poster entitled “Enhancing Seismic Resolution for Deeper Target Exploration in Transition Zone of Pangkah, NE Java Basin.”

The research aims to improve seismic imaging quality in deeper, unexplored target zones, with the expectation of supporting potential additions to oil and gas reserves in the Pangkah Working Area. The scientific poster was a collaborative work by Farid Dasa Marianto, Achmad A. Kaswandi, Agus Setiana, Baharianto Irfree, and Afriadhi Triwerdan.

As part of the government’s commitment to accelerating upstream oil and gas development, seven upstream oil and gas projects were signed during IPA Convex 2025 and witnessed directly by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. In total, more than 30 agreements and cooperation announcements were made throughout the event.

IPA Convex 2025 also served as an important platform to reaffirm the role of the upstream oil and gas sector in supporting the energy transition. With a strong spirit of collaboration and innovation, SAKA remains committed to contributing to national energy security and economic growth.
